at an idyllic Virginia sleepaway camp. Just two days before campers arrive, the camp manager is forced to leave to find a new chef, dropping all responsibilities on the already short-staffed counselors. To make matters worse, the two head counselors, Polly and Kitt, are already butting heads.
Polly, a passionate workaholic, wants to finish the list of tasks left by the camp manager. Kitt, on the other hand, wants to take advantage of the boss’s absence and enjoy a day of leisure and freedom.
Sides are taken. Polly enlists her best friend, Theresa, a plucky nerd; and Jimmy, a sarcastic goofball; to help work through the massive list of chores. Meanwhile, Kitt wins the favor of Vera, a rebellious punk rocker; and Chris, a jocky newcomer; to join her out on the lake, where they plan to spend the day drinking beer, smoking cigars, and soaking up the sun.
As day turns to night, intense flirtations and hijinks ensue; while Polly and Kitt are forced to confront their differences and their history.
